Dhaka, November 20: Four militants of the Neo JMB surrendered after a seven-hour raid on a house in Ukilpara area of Sirajganj's Shahjadpur upazila on Friday.

Lieutenant Colonel Ashiq Billah, director of the media branch at the RAB headquarters, said four militants had surrendered. There is no one in that house now.

Kiran is one of the surrenderees. He told RAB officials that he was the second head of the new JMB in the Pabna-Sirajganj area.

Muhammad Mohiuddin Miraj, company commander in charge of the RAB-12 Sirajganj camp, said two pistols, a machate, a chapati, bomb-making equipment and extremist books were found in the tinshed house.

Miraj said the RAB arrested some people in a raid in Rajshahi last Saturday. Based on the information given to them during the preliminary interrogation, a team of RAB went to the house in Ukilpara around 5 am on Friday. RAB members were shot at from that house. Then the house was surrounded and preparations for the expedition began.

Upon receiving the news, senior RAB officials also went to the spot. Residents of nearby houses were evacuated for safety reasons. The RAB called for the surrender of the militants in the house.

Later, four people in the house surrendered, RAB officials said. They said detailed information would be provided at the end of the operation.
