Dhaka, August 2: Law Minister Anisul Huq has commented that if the self-confessed murderer of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not returned, Canada's friendly relations with Bangladesh will be questioned.

He said, "We know the location of two murderers of Bangabandhu who are absconding abroad. One of them is AM Rashed Chowdhury, he is in USA. Another SHMB Noor Chowdhury, he is in Canada. We continue to try to bring Noor. But the Canadian government is refusing to return him."

The Law Minister said that the Government of Canada is saying that they have a law, if a person is given the maximum penalty (death penalty) or there is a case that carries the maximum penalty of death then they do not want to extradite that person. Still we keep pushing it, keep trying. If they do not return him, then our friendly relations with them (Canada) will be in question. We will also inform them.

He said these in the speech of the honored guest at the unveiling ceremony of the book titled 'Behind the scenes of August 15 Kushilab' at the National Press Club on Tuesday. The book is written by senior journalist Manjurul Ahsan Bulbul.

Stating that no one could raise any question about the trial process of the Bangabandhu murder case, the Law Minister said, "When we talked about bringing back the murderers who escaped abroad, no one could at least raise the question that the trial process was not done properly. or influence judgment. Through the Bangabandhu murder trial, a new chapter has been written in the establishment of justice on the soil of Bengal. As a result, even after 100 years, no one can question the proceedings of this case."

Anisul Huq said that Bangabandhu's murder should be tried in the general court - Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's request was this, and the indemnity was cancelled. After that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wanted from the first day that the trial of this case should be done in the general court. Let this case be decided in public. May the people of Bengal be a direct witness of the execution of the sentence of the murderers of the father of the nation.

He said that the judgment of this case was in the judicial court. Then it came to the High Court. But Sheikh Hasina's government is still in charge. Seven judges of the High Court were embarrassed to hear the case. I still don't understand why they were embarrassed. I am a lawyer. Now in charge of the Ministry of Law. Embarrassment is in legal terms. So I can't comment on that.
