Fuel price hike: Cabinet orders to give clear explanation

This order was given in the cabinet meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The meeting was held in the Cabinet meeting room of the Secretariat. The Prime Minister joined the meeting through a video conference from Ganabhaban.

Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam gave details in the press briefing at the Secretariat after the meeting. In response to the question of the journalists whether there was any discussion on the price of fuel oil in the meeting, he said that already the energy ministry and the chairman of BPC have given details to the press. The same has been informed to the Cabinet.

When asked whether the price of oil in the global market will decrease in the country too, Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that they have given a detailed explanation in this regard, and will explain again.

He said, "If I explain in a short range, many questions will arise, and the answer may not be given. For this, the Ministry of Energy has been told. They have been asked to do a briefing."

When asked whether the government will withdraw from the decision to increase the prices or not, Khandaker Anwarul Islam said that they will clear them in the briefing. They basically briefed the entire cabinet on Thursday. The Cabinet has not given any opinion, it has said that the Ministry of Energy should clarify the matter and present it to the people.
