Ganga Bilas moves through Sundarbans towards Mongla

Dhaka, 5 February 2023 : The luxury cruise ship MV Ganga Vilas entered the ring of Sundarbans in Bangladesh on Friday carrying 27 Swiss and one German tourist.

Later on Saturday at 12:30 pm, they gathered at Jetty number 7 of Mongla port.

State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury welcomed the guests of the ship to Mongla.

He said Ganga Vilas will spread India-Bangladesh relations globally.

The state minister said that the relationship between Bangladesh and India was created with blood in the liberation war of 1971. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the relationship has gone to a different height.

He said that India-Bangladesh relations will reach the height of the Western countries with the arrival of Ganga Vilas. Because there are only tourists from Europe in Ganga Vilas. Through them, the word of this relationship will spread around the world. Ganga Bilas will pass from one end of Bangladesh to the other end. It will not only save the ship, but also make our friendship colorful.

The country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the journey of the luxury yacht MV Ganga Bilas in Banaras, India on January 13.

State Minister of Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury welcomed the ship at 2.30 pm and welcomed the tourists. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Prannoy Verma, Mongla Port Authority Chairman Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, Shipping Ministry Secretary Mustafa Kamal, BIWTA Chairman Commodore Golam Sadek and other senior officials of shipping and Mongla Port Authority were present.

Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali, chairman of Mongla Port Authority, said that recently the transportation of goods with India has started through Mongla Port. Through this activity, friendship and economic relations with our friendly countries are getting stronger.

Taufiq Rahman, CEO of Journey Plus, the tour operator of MV Ganga Bilas, said that this is the longest river cruise in the world. It will cross 3200 km of waterways between the two countries.
