Gazipur polls: 13,000 police-RAB-BGB-Ansar deployed to assure security

Dhaka, May 25: More than 13,000 law and order forces have been deployed for Gazipur City Corporation election security. The local administration has taken all preparations to make the elections fair and peaceful. Law enforcement forces include the Police, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Forces.

Thirty teams of RAB and Ansar members as well as 13 platoon BGB members are deployed to maintain law and order in Gazipur city area. Besides, the police has 19 striking forces and 57 mobile teams.

Meanwhile, out of 480 polling stations, 351 polling stations have been identified as critical (critical) by the Election Commission (EC). There will be mobile teams in 57 wards. Besides, 19 striking forces under the leadership of 19 magistrates will be vigilant in the polling stations.

Commander of RAB-1 Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Al Momen said that RAB has all kinds of preparations to complete the election in a fair and beautiful manner.

Gazipur Metropolitan (GMP) Police Commissioner Molla Nazrul Islam said that more than 13,000 law enforcement personnel have been deployed on the occasion of the election. We are working to make the election fair and beautiful. RAB patrol has already started. The entire Gazipur City Corporation area is under strict surveillance.

He said that out of total 480 polling stations, 351 stations have been declared dangerous by the Election Commission. All centers are important to us. However, high-risk centers are being monitored separately.

Gazipur City Corporation election campaign ended on Tuesday at 12 pm. The Election Commission (EC) has made all preparations for this election. Meanwhile, the EVM machine and all necessary materials have been sent to the polling station. CCTV cameras have been installed in all centers. Eight candidates and 248 councilors and 79 women councilors are contesting the elections.
