Georgia Senate Passes Resolution Appreciating Bangladesh's Humanity, Foreign Minister shows appreciation

Dhaka, May 5: Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen expressed his gratitude and appreciation to those concerned for passing a resolution in the Georgia State Senate of the United States of America, praising Bangladesh's unprecedented economic development, regional peace and stability, contribution to development and prosperity and humanitarianism for more than a decade.

According to a press release on Friday, when the official copy of the resolution was handed over by Georgia Senator Sheikh Rahman to Foreign Minister Dr. Momen (at the hotel) during his official visit to Washington, DC on Tuesday, he expressed his thanks and gratitude to those concerned.

On the occasion of the Independence Day of Bangladesh, this resolution has been unanimously accepted this time in continuation of raising this proposal about Bangladesh on the initiative of Senator Sheikh Rahman in the Georgia State Senate for the last two years. Senator Sheikh Rahman could not personally hand over the copy of the resolution to Foreign Minister Dr. Momen due to his participation in the Eid festival program at the White House.

However, on behalf of Senator Sheikh Rahman, the brave freedom fighter Labloo Ansar along with members of Hamtromic City Council of Michigan Naeem Lyon Chowdhury, Abu Musa and Mithun Mahbub handed over the official copy of the resolution to Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen. The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Bangladeshi American Senator Sheikh Rahman and the people's representatives of Georgia for this initiative.

The foreign minister said at the time, "We thank all the people's representatives of Georgia for passing a resolution praising the ongoing development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the humanity of Sheikh Hasina's government."

It is to be noted that in a resolution (SR 426) passed on March 29 on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of Bangladesh's independence in the Georgia State Senate, Bangladesh's remarkable economic development and groundbreaking progress and humanity in various fields were praised. The resolution raised by State Senator Sheikh Rahman (Democrat) states - "Bangladesh has been able to maintain its position among the fastest growing economies in the world for more than a decade and this economic growth is not only for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh but also for peace, progress and Also contributing to regional prosperity."

It said, "The United States has long been an active partner in the successful journey of economic and social development of Bangladesh. The volume of trade between the two countries recently exceeded 9 billion dollars."
