Own Correspondent, Dhaka, December 17: The entire nation on Thursday, December 16, commemorated the heroic children on the golden jubilee of the Bengalis' victory in the war of liberation, whose bloodshed ended two decades of Pakistani rule and raised independent Bangladesh on the world map.

On the golden jubilee of independence, the people who came to pay their respects to the heroic children, demanded the overthrow of the communal evil forces and the thwarting of all 'international conspiracies', including the defeated forces of the liberation war.

After nine months of bloody war, on 16 December 1971, a new country called Bangladesh emerged on the world map. The golden jubilee of that victory has been celebrated all over the country, including the capital Dhaka, and in different embassies of Bangladesh abroad.

In the afternoon, Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina administered the oath to the people all over the country on the occasion of the golden jubilee of victory and the year of Mujib. The event was held at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad. Everyone from all the districts and divisional cities of the country took the national oath at the same time. The Prime Minister was accompanied by her younger sister Sheikh Rehana.

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of victory and the year of Mujib (Mujib Borsho), a special function was organized on Thursday and Friday (December 16 and 17) at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad under the title 'Mahabijayer Mahanayak'. On Thursday afternoon, the first day of the event, the Prime Minister administered the oath to all.

People from all walks of life gathered at the Savar National Memorial earlier in the morning to pay their respects to the best children. The nation celebrated the day with a different feeling, revived with grief and pride in repaying the blood debt. Ignoring the winter fog and cold wind, people from all walks of life started gathering outside the memorial in Savar and the surrounding highway area and in front of Bangabandhu Bhavan in Dhanmondi from early morning.
