Government issues 15-point guidelines to tackle Omicron

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, January 5: The government has issued 15-point directives to prevent the spread of new type of coronavirus Omicron. An official statement from the Department of Health on Tuesday (January 4) stated that.

It is learned that two Bangladeshi women cricketers who first returned to Zimbabwe on December 11 were infected with Omicron. Later on December 20, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that two players of the Bangladesh women's cricket team who were infected with Omicron were doing well and they had corona negative.

According to the Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID), three people were infected with Omicron on December 29. Earlier, on December 26, two more people were infected with Omicron in the country. At the same time, corona infections continue to increase in the country. On Tuesday, 775 fresh infections were reported while six patients died of the virus.

Notable among the directives are — Strengthen health check-ups and screening at ports for passengers arriving from Omicron affected countries; To discourage all kinds of public (social/political/religious and other) gatherings; Every person should always follow all the rules of hygiene including covering their nose and mouth properly and wearing a mask outside the house.

Restaurant seating is half the capacity or less; Participation of all types of public gatherings, tourist spots, recreation centers, resorts, community centers, cinema halls/theater halls and social events (weddings, weddings, birthdays, picnics, parties, etc.) with half or less capacity; Wearing masks and other hygiene rules in all places of worship including mosques; and hygiene must be ensured in public transport.

The Directorate General of Health Services' (DGHS) Disease Control Division has called on all to strictly adhere to these guidelines across the country.
