Dhaka, September 20: The government has planned to use two crore coronavirus vaccine doses every month, including one crore doses through campaign. The Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services, Prof. Dr. Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam, said this on Facebook Live on Sunday (September 19) evening about the country's vaccination plan.

He said, "Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have been able to collect vaccines on time. Health Minister Zahid Maleque is always giving advice and guidance in this regard. We have enough vaccines in stock. We have ensured adequate vaccination in the coming days."

"To this end, we are working on how to increase the immunization program. Schools and colleges have already been opened. In the past, there was a big system of vaccination in schools, but in the current context, we have to get out of that system," he said.

"In addition to the Upazila Health Complex, we will make arrangements for vaccination in the Upazila Auditorium and any big hall room of the Upazila. In addition to regular immunizations at the union level, immunizations will be provided through health assistants through union sub-centers and union health and family welfare centers. Corona vaccination will be given two days a week (on days when there is no regular immunization program)," he said.

"Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers will select one Union Sub-Center, Union Parishad, Union Health and Family Planning Center per Union as Corona Vaccination Center. Residents of the area will register for vaccination at the Upazila Health Complex and will be vaccinated at the concerned vaccination center subject to receiving SMS on mobile. The ICT department will send a message on the mobile mentioning the name of the union," the DGHS head added.

"In addition, people over the age of 60 (registered and unregistered) will be vaccinated one day a week through spot registration. Vaccination is predominant in people over the age of 60 because data analysis has shown that older people are more likely to be infected with the corona and have a higher mortality rate," he said.

The Director General of Health further said that experts are working on the issue of coronavirus vaccination of children. This matter is very sensitive. Activities are underway to find out how to vaccinate children as soon as possible.

He said, "Expatriate workers are one of the main drivers of the country's economy. Vaccination collection and vaccination activities are underway for the purpose of specific vaccination for expatriate workers and students."
