Dhaka, March 16: The government has issued a 10-point directive emphasizing wearing masks outside the home and at work as Covid-19 infections are on the rise in the country. An information statement on Monday called on everyone to wear masks and follow proper hygiene rules.

Although the level of infection had been gradually declining since last December, it has started rising again at an alarming rate since the beginning of this March. The daily detected patient rate again crossed 9 percent on Monday, from 3 percent two months ago.

Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 5,59,168 Covid patients have been identified in the country, while 8,571 people have died.

The statement said masks should be worn and hygiene rules should be followed everywhere to prevent the spread of Covid-19 infection.

Officers, employees and service recipients of government, semi-government, autonomous and private offices must wear masks compulsorily. The concerned office authority will confirm the matter. Patients and visitors must wear masks in all healthcare centers, including public and private hospitals. The concerned hospital authorities will confirm the matter.

The use of masks must be ensured in all religious places of worship, including educational institutions, mosques, temples and churches. The local administration and the concerned steering committee will confirm the matter.

In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, the government made it mandatory for everyone to wear a mask outside their homes at the end of July, 2020.

After that, the mobile court conducted disciplinary action for not wearing a mask for some time.

However, at the end of the 2020, when the level of infection started to decrease, the strictness with the wearing of mask also decreased. The health minister has already said that a mobile court will be set up to enforce the strict rules.
