Dhaka, April 7: Landless, homeless and uprooted families are being rehabilitated under the supervision of the Prime Minister's Office on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Homeless people are being given shelter project houses. For those who do not have a place to live, this shelter project is being developed on government khas land.

The largest shelter project in the country is being developed at Mankashair village in Kharera union of Kasba upazila of Brahmanbaria district. More than 400 beautiful houses are being built together in this project built along the Comilla-Sylhet highway.

According to the upazila administration, houses are being built for more than 400 families on 12.35 acres of government khas land. Semi-paved rooms, verandas, kitchens and toilets are being constructed with beautiful colored tin rooms. The construction cost of each house has been estimated at two lakh 59 thousand 500 taka. A separate freight cost of Tk 4,000 has been fixed. If all goes well, the project will be inaugurated next month.

Kasba Upazila Nirbahi Officer Masudul Alam said the country's largest shelter project is different from others. Because in this project there are separate markets, schools, playgrounds, mosques-temples, cemeteries and ponds for more than 400 families. After the completion of the shelter project, the roofs of the houses will look like the national flag from above. The houses of the project will be allotted to those who have no land or house. And this process will be through lottery.

Masudul Alam said workers for the project are being recruited from Nilphamari district. More than three hundred and fifty workers are working day and night. Local MP Law Minister Anisul Haque is constantly investigating the project. He has held a public meeting here. Talked to those who are getting house allotment. Officials from the project office came and inspected. Deputy Commissioner and other officials of the administration are constantly coming.
