Dhaka, May 28: The government has decided to provide subsidy to the expatriates from Bangladesh to Saudi Arabia to reduce the cost of quarantine. Besides, the age relaxation is being considered in vaccinating these expatriates going to the Middle East. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen told reporters at the Foreign Ministry on Thursday.

"We have taken the initiative to subsidize the expatriates if they go to Saudi Arabia. The matter has been discussed with the expatriate welfare minister," he said.

"Expatriates have to stay in hotel quarantine for a week when they go to Saudi Arabia. But the hotels that the Saudi government has allocated for them are expensive. So the expatriates are less interested in going to these hotels," he said.

Meanwhile, Saudi expatriates who came to Bangladesh are facing difficulties to return to the country. Some of their visas have expired. Some of them are having difficulties arranging tickets  Besides, even if they get tickets, the hotel scheduled to stay in Saudi Arabia is not getting empty. As a result, many could not go to Saudi Arabia at the right time.
