Dhaka, April 14: The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) has withdrawn from the directive to compulsorily organize Mangal Shobhajatra in the country's educational institutions on the occasion of Bengali New Year.

In a new directive, DSHE has asked educational institutions to celebrate Poila Baisakh under their own management while maintaining the sanctity of Ramadan and maintaining religious sentiments.

The new order signed by DSHE Assistant Director (General Administration) Rupak Roy on Thursday (April 13) revoked the directive to observe Mandatory Mars procession issued on April 11.

According to the new guidelines, Bengali New Year-1430 Bangabda celebration in educational institutions should be started by performing the national anthem and 'Eso Hey Boishakh' song. DSHE gave a directive on the occasion of New Year celebrations on April 11, where it had directed to compulsorily hold Mangal Shobhajatra in all the educational institutions under DSHE.

In that directive, it was mentioned to seriously promote the inclusion of 'Mangal Shobhajatra' in the list of cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Madrasa Education has issued separate instructions to celebrate the Bengali New Year by performing the national anthem and reciting the Qur'an while maintaining the sanctity and solemnity of the month of Ramadan in madrasas across the country.
