Dhaka, Feb 20: Saying that the government will not obstruct the peaceful programme of BNP, Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has made it clear that there will be obstacles if elements of violence are added to the movement.

He said this at a press conference organized at the Awami League president's office in Dhanmondi in the capital on Tuesday (February 20).

General secretary of Awami League said, "If violent activities like obstruction, terrorism, arson - these elements are added to the movement, then there will be obstruction. Why should we stop them if they have a peaceful programme?”

About the current political programme of BNP, he said, "The politics of the opposition party in Bangladesh is the main issue that is the fault of the Nand Ghosh government. The government is guilty of all crimes. They went to the United States to complain. BNP leader Moin Khan went to the US embassy and complained that there is no human rights and no democracy in the country. This is the state of BNP."

He said, "I want to know from the BNP leaders, where are the 54-party government, the opposition alliance, and the partners of this alliance?" Where is that unity? Where is the coalition in the mess? Can we get away with blaming the government now?”

"Awami League lost the election, BNP won" - Awami League general secretary said about the statement of BNP leaders, "Everyone knows who won the election. BNP won without participating in the election? What is it but the delirium of a madman?”

Obaidul Quader said in response to the questions of journalists about the incident of Chhatra League clash in Chittagong University, "Arrangements are being made, new thinking is being done. The team has decided to be as strict as necessary to prevent the recurrence of these incidents."

Central Awami League leaders including Awami League Organizing Secretary BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain, Mirza Azam, Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan were present at the press conference.
