Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that the governments that have been in power illegally since 1975 have sown the seeds of corruption.

The Prime Minister said this while inaugurating the Silver Jubilee of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on Sunday (October 25).

Joining in a video conference from Ganobhaban, he said, "The seeds of corruption have been sown by the governments that have been in power illegally since the seventies. First Ziaur Rahman, then Ershad, then Khaleda Zia. They have not only indulged in corruption, they have corrupted themselves and nurtured corruption. But we have never done that since the Awami League came to power. '

The Prime Minister said, ‘What was once in our country? No matter how much corruption, irregularities, they were covered up. And the problem is hiding those words under the carpet. But our government is not doing that. '

"If there is any corruption or irregularity somewhere, we don't care if the party is involved in it again," he said. Whether such a leader or activist of mine is involved. Whether the party will be discredited. Whether the government will be discredited or not - we never think about that. I think we have to take action against what has been wronged there. Many times the guilt that comes with taking it falls on us. Then it seems that the Awami League government is doing corruption. Not really. '

Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Newspapers are the mirror of society. What will be the mirror of the society should at least awaken patriotism in the people, they should be inspired for the welfare of the people. Let them work for the welfare of the people. '

He called on the people to refrain from any report that could cause confusion in the public opinion.
