Dhaka, March 10: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch (DB) has arrested three persons including two building owners in connection with the death of 23 people so far in the Siddique Bazar explosion in the capital's Gulistan.

The arrested are the two owners of the damaged building, Wahidur Rahman and Matiur Rahman, and Mintu, a sanitary dealer in the basement of the building. Wahidur and Matiur are related to two brothers.

Detective Chief Additional Police Commissioner Md. Harun-or-Rashid said these things at a press conference organized at DMP Media Center on Thursday (March 9) at noon.

He said that instead of keeping the parking place in underground of the building, it was surrounded by glass and rented for the sanitary business. There is no ventilation system. The building's septic tank was also never cleaned. In this situation, the responsibility of the explosion cannot be avoided by the building owner or the businessmen there, he said.

Harun-or-Rashid also said, considering everything, three people have been arrested after interrogation. A case of negligence will be filed against them and they will be arrested in that case and sent to court.
