Hasina-Modi inaugurate five projects including Rampal Maitri power plant

Dhaka, September 6: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Maitri Super Thermal Power Project at Rampal in Bagerhat. Besides, they inaugurated four other projects, including the railway bridge over Rupsa river and the Khulna-Darshana and Parvatipur-Kaunia rail link projects.

These projects were officially inaugurated virtually from 'Hyderabad House' in New Delhi on Tuesday (September 6). The Prime Minister of Bangladesh is currently visiting New Delhi. On the second day of the visit, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina held a bilateral and private meeting with Narendra Modi. Later, seven MoUs were signed between the two countries. The projects were inaugurated at the same time. After that, the two Prime Ministers made a joint statement.

In a statement, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had fruitful discussions.

"Here we have signed some memorandum of understanding, which will lead to the development and welfare of both countries. We have reached consensus on some issues which are beneficial for the people of both countries. We hope that not only Bangladesh-India but also South and Southeast Asia will be well-being and prosperity," she said.

Pointing out that there will be disputes between the friendly countries, the Prime Minister said that Bangladesh and India have resolved many important issues between them through discussion. India is the most important and close neighbor of Bangladesh. Bangladesh-India relations are a role model of 'neighbourhood diplomacy'.
