Dhaka, March 27: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken part in a bilateral meeting with visiting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where various issues of mutual interest were discussed. Sheikh Hasina welcomed Narendra Modi, who arrived in Bangladesh to celebrate the golden jubilee of independence, on the second day of his visit after 5 pm on Saturday.

The two heads of government first met privately for some time. Later, under their leadership, a bilateral meeting of the delegations of the two countries began, which lasted till 6:15 pm.

Several memoranda of understanding are expected to be signed in the presence of the two leaders after the bilateral meeting. Besides, the two Prime Ministers are also scheduled to inaugurate various virtual projects.

Although Modi's visit is aimed at celebrating the two Bengals, various aspects of bilateral relations are also expected to be discussed at the meeting.

Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said on Wednesday, "When the Prime Minister (Sheikh Hasina) talks to the Indian Prime Minister, the issues that have been discussed and generally agreed upon, so that they are in force, there is no difficulty in implementation, may the Hon'ble Prime Minister highlight To the Prime Minister.”

And Indian Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Sringla said, "This visit will be of great significance and will celebrate our unique and special relationship. It will emphasize the importance of our broader strategic partnership with Bangladesh."

Narendra Modi spoke as the guest of honor at the birth centenary of Bangabandhu and the golden jubilee of independence at the National Parade Square on Friday afternoon.

In the evening, he jointly inaugurated the 'Bangabandhu-Bapu Museum' with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center. There he also attended a state banquet organised by Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina.

After the last meeting with Prime Minister Hasina, the Prime Minister of India will call on President Md. Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban. Later in the evening he will leave Dhaka for New Delhi.
