Hasina pays tribute to Bangabandhu

Dhaka: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina along with the leaders and activists of the newly formed central Awami League paid tribute at the tomb of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

On Saturday (January 7) at 1:10 p.m. as a pre-arranged program, he along with the newly formed central leaders and activists paid tribute by offering floral wreath at Bangabandhu's Samadhi Soudh Vedi.

Later, along with the newly formed central leaders, they took part in reciting Surah Fatiha and praying for the souls of Bangabandhu and his family members who died on August 15, 1975. At this time, the Prime Minister stood silently for a while. Trinamool leaders and activists including members of the newly formed National Assembly, Central Awami League Executive Committee and Advisory Council were present.

Earlier, party general secretary Obaidul Quader's motorcade along with the leaders and activists entered Tungipara at 12:50 PM. Later, the Prime Minister entered Bangabandhu's Samadhi Complex at 1 pm along with the general secretary of the newly formed party and the central leaders from his home White House in Tungipara.

According to party sources, the Prime Minister will participate in the inauguration ceremony of various development projects of Gopalganj Sadar, Tungipara and Kotalipara upazilas through video conference from his home in the afternoon. Then at 2 pm he will attend the meeting organized by Gopalganj district Awami League.
Later at 2:30 PM, the first joint meeting of the newly formed National Assembly, Central Awami League Executive Committee and Advisory Council was held at the Tungipara Upazila Awami League office. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left for Dhaka at 4:30 pm after the meeting. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina went to Tungipara in Gopalganj for the first time after being elected as the president of Awami League for the tenth time. At that time, younger sister Sheikh Rehana and family members were his travel companions.
