Dhaka, March 16: The High Court has given a verbal order to the chief legal officer of the state Attorney General to talk to the government officials to reduce the cost of the Hajj package. Besides, the court also commented that the government can reduce the Hajj tax if it wants.

On Wednesday (March 15), the High Court bench comprising Justice KM Kamrul Quader and Justice Muhammad Ali passed the order. Besides, the hearing of the writ regarding the amendment and redetermination of the 'Hajj Package 2023' was adjourned for a week.

The High Court said that most of the people in our country are middle class. As Muslims, they all want to perform Hajj at least once in their life.

Taking this issue into consideration, the High Court gave oral instructions to the Attorney General to speak for the government to reduce the cost of the Hajj package as much as possible.

Advocate Gazi Mohammad Mohsin heard the petition in court. At the same time, the writ petitioner was Ashraf-uz-Zaman. Advocate Azim Uddin Patwari, Advocate Muhammad Saidur Rahman, Advocate Yashin Alfaz, Advocate Muhammad Shafiqul Islam also cooperated. And Attorney General Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin was in the hearing for the state. Assistant Attorney General Awlad Hossain was with him.

Advocate Azim Uddin Patwari told Jago News that the writ petitioner in the hearing said that the fare that is usually charged is actually higher than the Hajj plane fare. Apart from that, the house rent of Hajids in Saudi Arabia is also high. Hajj muallem fees are charged more than the charges prescribed by the Saudi government. In addition, the government of Malaysia and Indonesia have taken the cost of Hajj with the subsidy (subsidy) for Hajj, more money has been taken for our Hajj.

Attorney General Abu Mohammad (AM) Amin Uddin, the chief legal officer of the state, said that due to the increase in the price of the dollar and Saudi riyal, the government was forced to determine the cost of the Hajj package, so the money seems high. After the plane with the Hajis went to Saudi, the flights from there came empty. When brought back, the plane went empty to fetch the Hajids.

Earlier on March 12, a writ was issued to reduce the Hajj package and re-announce the package. The writ seeks instructions to book tickets for Haj on any airline other than Bangladesh Biman and Saudi Airlines.
