Dhaka, April 10: The district detective branch (DB) has arrested three people, including the leader of Hefazat-e-Islam, in connection with the attempted murder of Sohag Rony, former vice-president of the district BCL, over the Mamunul incident at the Sonargaon Royal Resort in Narayanganj. They were arrested on Friday (April 9) from different areas. The arrested are Khaled Saifullah Saif, Kazi Samir and Ahid. Among them, Ahid is a member of Tabligh Jamaat.

Haji Shah Jamal Tota, father of former BCL vice-president Sohag Rony, filed a case (Case No. 12) with Sonargaon Police Station on Thursday night after the Mamunul Haque incident.

In this regard, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station Hafizur Rahman said, the name and address will be included after identifying the accused by looking at the CCTV footage. Three people have been arrested in the incident.

Earlier, Hefazat activists vandalized the offices of Sonargaon Upazila Awami League, Juba League and Chhatra League leaders and businesses at the Royal Resort in Sonargaon, Narayanganj.

Meanwhile, seven people were arrested from a secret meeting at a madrasa in Shantinagar in Pirojpur union of the upazila on Thursday (April 8) afternoon.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Sonargaon Police Station Md Hafizur Rahman confirmed the information. However, he did not reveal the names of the seven people arrested from the secret meeting.
