Dhaka, March 26, 2021: The general public has not responded to the morning-evening strike called by Hefazat-e-Islam.

The strike is being observed loosely. Public transport has been normal on the roads of the capital since Sunday (March 26) morning. However, due to the fear of covert attacks in the minds of the people, the number of people and vehicles is a bit less today than other days.

Shanir Akhra, Jatrabari, Gulistan, Paltan areas of the capital have been visited, public transport is running normally. However, the number of vehicles is slightly less than other days. The number of vehicles going to Gulistan from Shanir Akhra is much higher on other days but today the number is less.

There is no traffic jam in the toll plaza of the flyover in Gulistan like other days. The same situation is in Gulistan Chattar. On other working days, there is a lot of traffic, but today it is much less. Besides, there is no traffic jam in GPO or Paltan. However, some public transport is running. Passenger pressure is high in those transports.

Meanwhile, the demand for rickshaws and CNG has increased due to less public transport. The movement of these transports has been seen everywhere.

Moinul Jago, a traffic police officer in charge of Gulistan, told News that the traffic was light for the strike. But the car is moving. The car pressure is a bit less today than it is on other working days.

Samsul Alam, who works in a private company, told Jago News that the number of vehicles is less than other days.

"I came to Gulistan from the signboard. But now I can't get a car from Gulistan to Malibagh. On other days, one car after another, but today the number of cars is much less," he said.

The group called for a nationwide morning-evening strike on Sunday after several Hefazat-e-Islam activists were killed in clashes with protesters protesting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bangladesh. Several Islamic parties, including the Islamic Movement of Charmonai Pir, have supported their strike.
