Dhaka, October 29: The High Court has directed the concerned district judges to investigate the incidents of communal attacks in six districts of the country, including Comilla. The concerned have been asked to investigate the matter and submit a report to the court within the next 60 days. Apart from Comilla, the other five districts include Chandpur, Noakhali, Chittagong, Rangpur and Feni.

At the same time, the court has issued a rule on the hearing of the writ petition. The rule asks why the minority community should not be instructed on security and rehabilitation. A bench of the High Court comprising Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kamrul Hossain Mollah passed the order on Thursday (October 27th) after hearing a writ petition seeking removal of provocative posts from social media and judicial inquiry into the communal attack.

Chief Law Officer Attorney General AM Amin Uddin was present in the court on behalf of the state. Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua appeared for the writ petition.

Confirming the order, Jyotirmoy Barua said the court wanted to know why the inaction and failure of those involved in protecting Durga Puja pandals, temples, houses, life and property of Hindus would not be illegal and why it would not be directed to protect life, worship and property of Hindu community.

Earlier on October 26, a writ petition was filed in the High Court seeking directions to remove all provocative posts and videos posted on social media for the purpose of destroying the community. Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, another Supreme Court lawyer, filed the writ petition on behalf of the two lawyers, including Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Anup Kumar Saha.
