Dhaka, December 8: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Ghulam Farooq said that BNP cannot be allowed to hold a mass meeting in front of Paltan party office considering public safety and public suffering. If the law is violated, the highest legal action will be taken against BNP.

He said this while speaking at an emergency press conference regarding the security of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Dhaka regional mass meeting at the DMP Media Center on Wednesday (December 7) evening.

Khandkar Ghulam Farooq said, there will not be space for 10 lakh people in front of Paltan. A maximum of one lakh people can stand on the alter. The remaining 9 lakh people will spread in different streets of Dhaka city. BNP will have no control over that.

He said, "We have come to know through intelligence agencies and media that BNP can create unstable situation by gathering 10 lakh people in Dhaka city. So they cannot be allowed to hold a rally in front of the party office by causing public trouble and disrupting law and order in Dhaka. You can go to any open field or make any other offer. As another proposal, they are told that there is an Ijtema Ground, where you can gather 1 million people. There is a trade fair ground in Purbachal, they can go there."

Stating that this decision has been taken for two reasons, the DMP Commissioner said, the first reason is that there will not be space for so many people in Paltan. If they still gather there, the remaining 9 lakh people will be scattered in different places in Dhaka city. On which BNP will have no control and police will have no control. Secondly, if these 10 lakh people occupy all the roads of Dhaka, it will be a matter of extreme suffering for the people of Dhaka.
