Dhaka, April 5: The Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF), a separatist armed group, is once again occupying the hilly areas of the hilly district of Bandarban. The hill population is in fear due to terror and looting. After the armed attack and bank robbery in Bandarban, the situation is currently at a standstill. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal is going to inspect the overall situation there.

Md. Sharif Mahmud Apu, senior information officer of the Ministry of Home Affairs, said on Friday that the Home Minister will go to Bandarban by helicopter from Dhaka on Saturday (April 6).

The minister will visit various areas including Ruma in Bandarban. At this time, he will exchange views with senior officials including Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Bandarban. He will leave for Dhaka after discussion at Bandarban Circuit House on Saturday afternoon. BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui will accompany the Home Minister from Dhaka.

Meanwhile, after 48 hours of abduction, the manager of Sonali Bank's Ruma branch in Bandarban, Nezam Uddin, was rescued unhurt by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

RAB says that the members did not take any risk in rescuing the bank manager safely. He was rescued by adopting one of several techniques of intelligence operations.

In the press conference after the rescue of the bank manager at the Bandarban Hill District Parishad conference room at 11 am on Friday, he said that there are several regional organizations in Bandarban district. This incident was done by the armed members of KNAP to show their excellence, inspiration to their successors and capability of their colleagues to the world. However, after seeing the CCTV footage, those involved will be brought under the law. He said that before this Kuki-Chin members were engaged in various criminal activities including training the militants in handling weapons in exchange of money. In the last two days, KNF has committed various crimes including looting money, looting mobile phones and looting 14 weapons from common people.

Earlier, KNF terrorists attacked Sonali Bank on Tuesday (April 2) night. They shut down the local electrical sub-station. Later snatched the key of the vault from the bank cashier in the local tea shop. But the KNF members took him away after not getting the other set of keys from the bank manager who was in the mosque for Tarabi prayers.
