Homebound crowd visible on Eid day

Dhaka, May 3: Many people could not leave Dhaka before Eid due to various reasons including not having holidays and avoiding suffering during Eid. Many of them also leave Dhaka on Eid day to share happiness with family, relatives and friends. Most of these Eid passengers are traders or shop workers.

The bus counters at the Gabtoli bus terminal in the capital were found open on Tuesday (May 3) morning. The presence of the passengers was also eye-catching.

Talking to homebound travelers on the day of Eid, it is learned that many of them work in different showrooms and shops. There has been trade in the moon. As a result, Eid is a holiday. On the day of Eid in Gabtali, many imams and muezzins were seen returning home. All of them have a holiday after Eid Jamaat.

Muazzin Jamal Uddin of Jame Mosque of Central Drug Administration Department. He is returning home after Eid prayers. Jamal Uddin said, "I got leave after the end of Eid Jamaat. Going home now. The road is a bit empty. I hope to get home soon. I am running to spend Eid with my family."

Another passenger named Md. Sultan is going to his house in Magura village. "Passengers are under a lot of pressure before Eid," he said. "Paturia-Daulatdia ghat is also jammed. Eid pilgrimage is difficult. That's why I didn't go before. I can go in comfort now."

Salauddin will go to Jessore with his young child and old grandmother. "I did not get a ticket before Eid," he said. Nani is an old. Trouble with the baby again. It is risky to leave without a ticket. That's why I took the ticket on Eid day. I am going home today."

Meanwhile, those involved in transport are happy to get passengers on Eid day. Shyamoli Paribahan's counter master Swapan Chandra Das said, "I am getting good passengers today. Those who could not go home before Eid for various reasons. They are leaving today. There are also some amateur passengers. Those who want to go home in comfort are going today."
