HSC results by January 28

Dhaka, January 11: Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam said the results of HSC and equivalent examinations would be released by January 28. The cabinet secretary said this at a briefing on the final approval in the cabinet of the revised law of education boards to publish HSC or higher secondary results without examination due to coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The virtual cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, gave the go-ahead on Monday (January 11).

The cabinet also approved drafts of the Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (Amendment) Ordinance, 1961 and the revised Bangladesh Technical Education Board Act, 2018 and the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board Act, 2020.

After the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary in the Secretariat said, "There are seven days left for the Parliament to convene. Therefore, the Cabinet has decided that it does not need to be ordained. It is subject to vetting directly. Approved, it was put up on the first day and legislated in 2-3 days so that the results could be given by 25, 26 or maximum 26 January, that is what was decided today."

Usually HSC and equivalent examinations start on 1st April every year. But it was not possible to take the test due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This time the total number of HSC and equivalent candidates is 13,65,789 people.

The education minister told a press conference on October 7 that HSC and equivalent examinations would not be held this year. The results of HSC will be declared on the basis of average results of JSC, SSC and equivalent examinations.
