Dhaka, February 14: Outgoing Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said, "I have faced many challenges in my five years in office. However, I have successfully fulfilled my responsibilities. We have fulfilled our responsibility by working hard." He made the remarks at a farewell press conference on Monday (February 14th) at the Lake View premises of the Election Building.

Apart from Senior Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder and Brigadier General (Retd.) Shahadat Hossain, other Election Commissioners were also present. Brigadier General (retd) Shahadat Hossain was not present at the press conference as he was attacked by Corona. Mahbub Talukder said that he will hold a press briefing later.

The CEC said, "We have conducted 6,690 elections. I have done a lot of work outside of routine work. I have done a lot of law reform work. I have made many rules, including RPO, conversion to Bengali."

He said, "I have trained 24,881 people, especially in EVM. Could not redraw due to coronavirus pandemic. We have completed all the local government elections. EVM was a big challenge. I have been able to implement it with great success. NID has been simplified. The treasury has been enriched. We think we have fulfilled our responsibility by working hard."

On 15 February 2017, President Md. Abdul Hamid appointed former civil servant KM Nurul Huda as CEC; Mahbub Talkudar, Rafiqul Islam, Kabita Khanam and military bureaucrats appointed Brigadier General (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury as Election Commissioner.
