Dhaka, August 18: Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Khandaker Golam Farooq said on the issue of the upcoming 12th National Election that many people will enter the ground to disturb the election this year, many will try to deteriorate the law and order situation and want to obstruct the election. If anyone obstructs the national election, the police will take the people with them and suppress them with a strong hand.

He said these while speaking as a special guest at the inauguration ceremony of closed circuit (CC) cameras installed under the 'Swasti' project at Sabuj Bagh in the capital on Wednesday. Prime Minister's Special Envoy for Environment and Climate Saber Hossain Chowdhury was present as the chief guest on the occasion.

DMP Commissioner said that there are about two crore people living in Dhaka city. The security of the President, Prime Minister, Parliament, Secretariat along with foreign organizations is provided to Bangladesh Bank. This is a big challenge for us. In addition to these challenges, it is also an election year. If anyone tries to disrupt law and order around the elections, the Bangladesh Police will suppress it with the cooperation of the people.

He said, three-four days ago, he saw a top leader of Jamaat (Delawar Hossain Saeedi) died of natural causes due to heart attack. A circle with his dead body was trying to disrupt the law and order situation. They did not succeed.

The police chief of Dhaka said that the terrorist violence started all over the country including the Holey Artisan attack and said that the main reason for the rise of terrorists in domestic and foreign plots was to stop the development of Bangladesh. With the help of all of you, Bangladesh Police has been able to suppress and control the militants. But the militancy has not been completely eradicated from Bangladesh yet. A few days ago, DMP's CTTC arrested new militants from the deep forest of Sylhet.

Stating that a stable law and order situation is a prerequisite for the development of a country, the DMP Commissioner said that the law and order situation has been normal under the leadership of the Prime Minister from 2009 to 2023 (except for the fire in 2012-13). As a result, the development plans of the Prime Minister are not faced with any kind of obstacles. The tide of development is flowing all over Bangladesh.
