Dhaka, Oct 18: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun has ordered to be careful so that no one can worsen the law and order situation by creating rumors during the upcoming Durga Puja.

He gave this instruction in the President's speech at the day-long Police Headquarters Quarterly Conference at Rajarbagh Police Lines Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.

Regarding law and order during the upcoming Durga Puja, the IGP said that the policemen should be vigilant so that Durga Puja can be observed with religious solemnity. Care should also be taken to ensure that no one creates rumors and worsens the law and order situation. He also called on the field level police officers to perform their duty with vigilance and caution while maintaining professionalism.

The IGP also said that legal responsibilities must be performed properly and lawfully. Under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the police are working to maintain law and order in the country. The police are successfully performing their duties in the country to suppress militancy and terrorism. The law and order situation of the country is improving only through the field level policemen.

The IGP directed the police officers to carry out their duties by maintaining good relations and coordination with all agencies at the field level.

Reiterating the pledge to make the police station the main place of trust for the police, the IGP said that work should be done to make the police station the main institution for providing police services. Policemen have to perform their duties with sincerity and dedication so that the people who come to the police station can get the service they expect from the police station.

Referring to the welfare of the force, he said that if any policeman needs medical facilities during the performance of duty, he will be provided with the highest level of treatment in the country or outside the country.
