Dhaka, April 19: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun requested not to leave valuables in vacant houses in Dhaka during the long Eid holiday.

He said, the house should not be left completely empty. If you go, leave the jewelry and money with your relatives who will be covered or take it with you if you can.

The IGP made this request in a press conference held at Syedabad Bus Terminal on Wednesday afternoon after inspecting the Eid journey of people returning home on the occasion of Eid.

He said, every year we take security measures during Eid. During Ramadan, special security arrangements are in place throughout the month. With that comes a time when we take security measures in the markets. Now we have formulated safety measures considering the security measures of the tourist places along with the safety of the passengers, the traffic system along with the markets. All units of the police will be engaged during this time. All units of the police including our special team will be engaged in ensuring the safety of people during this Eid.

The IGP said, you have already seen that sub control rooms have been set up in different places including Dhaka. We have strengthened security by setting up sub control rooms in various places across the country including Dhaka. We have taken all measures to ensure that common passengers can reach their destinations safely and quickly. In other years, commuters had to sit on the road for the whole day.

The Padma Bridge has been launched on the initiative of the government. We know that the roads in North Bengal have also improved a lot. Earlier I had to sit for 8-10-20 hours at Chandra Mor. But with the development of roads, the journey has become much easier now.

He also said, we have spoken to the transport counters, there is not much passenger pressure yet. Passenger pressure will increase after Sehri. Intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies are working together to ensure that passengers can travel safely to their respective destinations. I have kept the security system of the ground of the Eid congregation.

Requesting the passengers, the IGP said that you should not eat anything given by a stranger while traveling. By playing these, there is a danger of falling into the clutches of the ignorant party. We hope that common people will be able to perform Idyatra without any kind of trouble.
