Dhaka, March 17: After being closed for three long years, Sonamasjid-Mahadipur land port of Chapainawabganj has resumed immigration operations.

Indian Assistant High Commissioner Manoj Kumar inaugurated the immigration operations on Thursday afternoon. As a result, passengers with passports will be able to come and go through the immigration of Sonamasjid-Mahadipur land port from Thursday.

During the inauguration, the president of Chapainawabganj Chamber of Commerce Abdul Waheed said that the immigration of Sonamasjid-Mahadipur land port was supposed to be launched on March 12. But it did not happen due to the complexity of some documents. As a result, Indian Assistant High Commissioner Manoj Kumar inaugurated the immigration program after 4 days. Now I am going to India with this immigration along with 25 businessmen.

A few passengers with passports including Mesbaul Haque, Biojit said that they imported various products including wheat through Sonamsjid land port. So sometimes they have to go to India for business. But they had to go through Benapole as immigration was closed at Sonamsjid-Mohdipur land port. It was a lot of suffering. Money was also spent more. From today, with this immigration, you can go to India, and the suffering is reduced.

Earlier on March 15, 2020, passenger movement through the Sonamasjid immigration check post was stopped due to the increase in the number of coronavirus infections.
