Inauguration of Padma Bridge is another victory song of Bengalis

Dhaka, July 24: The Padma bridge is going to be opened in just a few hours. This is like another victory song of Bengalis. After the liberation war of 1971, the victory song of Bengalis was composed through the surrender of the Pakistani aggressors, another victory song will also be composed through the inauguration of the Padma Bridge. Another victory flag will fly on the Padma bridge built against all domestic and foreign conspiracies.

By building a bridge over the fast flowing river like Padma, the Bengalis once again informed the whole world that the brave Bengalis do not know how to accept defeat. The dream Padma Bridge will be inaugurated at midnight. There will be an end to the suffering of the ages to cross the Padma.

Mawa area around the Padma in Munshiganj is one of the witnesses in the construction of the bridge. So just before the inauguration of the structure, the people in the Mawa area were overjoyed.

The inaugural plaque of the bridge will be unveiled and a gathering will be held on the banks of the Padma at Mawa in Munshiganj. The stage is set. Three thousand well-wishers are being invited to the rally. The list includes cabinet members, prominent politicians, foreign diplomats stationed in Bangladesh, representatives of construction partners, eminent intellectuals and journalists of the country.

It can be seen on the ground that the venue, Dhaka-Mawa Expressway is full of decorations. Various banner-festoons have been arranged on the expressway. Local leaders and activists have also drawn festoons for the construction of the Padma Bridge. The overall management work, including the construction of a spectacular stage at the venue, is nearing completion.

Besides, the work of placing the nameplate and mural of the bridge is nearing completion. The work of enhancing the beauty around the venue is also in full swing.

In the meantime, several levels of security have been tightened in the entire Mawa area. Police, RAB, army and various law enforcement agencies are working. Highway Police, Traffic Police, District Police, Armed Police Battalion, Naval Police are all deployed simultaneously. Apart from various patrols, there will be surveillance of RAB helicopters in the air.

On July 4, 2001, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina laid the foundation stone of the Padma Bridge. Construction began in November 1014. The two-tiered steel and concrete Truss bridge has a four-lane road at the upper level and a single railway at the lower level.

The main infrastructure is built in the Padma-Brahmaputra-Meghna river basin with 42 pillars and 41 spans of 150 meters length. The length of the bridge is 6.15 km and the width is 18 m. The total cost of construction of Padma bridge is Tk 30,193.39 crore.
