Dhaka, February 16: Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra expressed India's full support to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership. At the same time, he also said that India will stand by Bangladesh's political and economic progress along with its development journey.

During a courtesy call on the Prime Minister at the Ganobhaban on Wednesday, the Indian Foreign Secretary also said that we (India) have full support for you and your leadership. After the meeting, Prime Minister's speech writer Md. Nazrul Islam informed the journalists about this information.

In the meeting, Indian Foreign Secretary Sheikh Hasina was invited to attend the 18th session of the Group of Twenty (G20) summit held in New Delhi on September 9-10 this year. Prime Minister accepted the invitation and thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

India is serving as the President of G20 from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023. As the President of G20, India invited Bangladesh as a 'guest country'. Describing the bilateral ties between the two neighboring countries as very strong, Vinay Kwatra said that the whole world now values Bangladesh-India relations. In the meantime that has reached a strategic level. He also said that this relationship is getting stronger.

In this context, the Prime Minister referred to India as a trusted friend. She also expressed hope that this friendship will deepen. She said that both the countries can work for the socio-economic development of the two neighbors.

The visiting Indian foreign secretary said that they are trying to ease the terms of the Indian Line of Credit (LoC) so that Bangladesh can easily borrow and repay it. He said that bilateral trade and commerce can be conducted using the local currency of both countries.

Principal Secretary to Prime Minister M Tofazzel Hossain Mia, Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma were present in the meeting.
