India will not talk about any country's internal affairs: Foreign Secretary

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 27 November 2023: India will not talk about the internal affairs of any country, they want to reflect the will of the people, said Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen.

He said, in the meeting between the foreign secretaries of Bangladesh and India in New Delhi, there was a discussion about Prashant Kumar (PK) Halder, the former managing director of Global Islami Bank (formerly NRB Global), who is on trial in India. However, as the matter is under trial, India does not want to discuss more in this context.

He gave this information while talking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday afternoon after returning home after the foreign secretary level meeting in Delhi on Friday.

When asked whether PK Haldar was discussed in the meeting, Masood bin Momen said in reply, "We have told about PK Haldar. But they said, it is a subjudice (under trial). They are still considering our request for it. Since it is under trial, they are discussing more about it. don't want to."

The Foreign Secretary said that there was no discussion on the return of Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of the BNP Standing Committee, who is staying in India, in the meeting.

Foreign secretaries of Bangladesh and India met in New Delhi on Friday. Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen on behalf of Dhaka and Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra on behalf of Delhi led the meeting. This was the second foreign secretary level meeting in a gap of about eight months.
