Own Correspondent, Dhaka, April 25: Indian Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar is coming to Dhaka to formally invite Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit New Delhi.

Diplomatic sources said on Sunday that Jaishankar is coming to Dhaka on Thursday (April 28) on behalf of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to invite Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit New Delhi.

Besides meeting PM Sheikh Hasina, the Indian Foreign Minister will hold a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen during his two-day visit.

Bangabandhu's daughter's visit to New Delhi was discussed on the Republic Day of India on January 26 this year. But it did not happen. Sheikh Hasina is expected to visit New Delhi in June.

Last year, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Dhaka in March on the golden jubilee of Bangladesh's independence and the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The President of India Ram Nath Kovind came to Dhaka in December in the same year.

Jaishankar visited Dhaka for the second time on March 4 last year after taking charge as the Indian Foreign Minister. He visited Dhaka for the first time in 2019. This is going to be his third visit to Dhaka.
