Indian girl who crossed border for love, escorted back home

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, February 19: Khusnama (17), an Indian girl, came to Tentulia in Panchagarh illegally crossing the fences of India-Bangladesh border for love. Police arrested her last Thursday (February 17). After all the legal procedures, the police sent her back to her country (India) in the presence of her parents through a flag meeting with the Indian Border Security Force (276 BSF) with the help of Border Guard Bangladesh (18 BGB).

She was handed over to the BSF at a flag meeting along with the 7.S and 443 main pillars of Pillar No. 442 of the Zero Line at the India-Bangladesh border at Telipara in Puratan Bazar of Tentulia Upazila on Friday (February 18) afternoon. Meanwhile, BSF's Haftia Camp Assistant Commander Kamal Singh, Inspector Upendra Singh, Promod Kumar, Indian Goal Pukur Police Constable Dilip Kumar Sarkar, BGB Tentulia Camp Company Commander Subedar Md. Abdul Motaleb, Tentulia Model Police Station SI Tapan Kumar along with BGB-BSF and police members were present.

Khusnama, who came to Panchagarh after crossing the Indian border for love, is the daughter of Israil Hossain of Haryana village under Goalpukur police station in North Dinajpur district of West Bengal.

Earlier, on Wednesday (February 16) night, the girl crossed the fence of the Indian border and crossed the Mahananda River through the Murimakha border of Tentulia and reached Hasinur Rahman's house in Saddarpara village of Tentulia. Upon learning the news, Tentulia Model Police arrested her on Thursday (February 17) at noon and informed the BGB. After receiving the news, BGB contacted BSF in the afternoon and informed about the girl.

Israel Hossain, the father of the Indian girl, said, "I don't know how my daughter got into Bangladesh. I got the news through the administration and have come here to take my girl."

India's Goal Pukur Police Station's constable Dilip Kumar Sarkar said, "When the BSF informed us, we brought the girl's parents to the 176th Battalion. After the legal process, Bangladesh Police handed over the girl to BSF through BGB. After taking her to the police station, we handed over the girl to her family after completing all our legal procedures."
