Own Correspondent, Dhaka, 17 December: President of India Ram Nath Kovind has been accorded the 'Mujib Chirantan' Tribute memorial award, while he was present as the distinguished guest of honor at a special function titled 'Great Hero of Great Victory' on the occasion of Golden Jubilee of Independence and Mujib Year (Mujib Borsho).

Sheikh Rehana, daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, handed over this special memento to the President of India Thursday afternoon.

"This index finger is the eternal symbol of liberation and independence of the Bengali nation. The Bengalis built 'forts in every house' with the index finger of the father of the nation; The independent golden Bengal of dreams was snatched away. In the pages of the history of Bangladesh's independence, written in blood, the great hero of liberation, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members have made remarkable contributions and sacrifices. Nine flying pigeons symbolize the family members of the father of the nation. At the same time, pigeons symbolize all the liberated and freedom-loving people of the world. Terracotta has been used in the soil of Tungi Para village - the eternal light of our consciousness on which the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is sleeping."

On the occasion of the golden jubilee of independence and the year of Mujib, a special program has been organized on Thursday and today at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad under the title 'Mahabijoyer Mahanayak'. On the first day of the event, December 16, the President of India Ram Nath Kovind was present as the guest of honor.
