Intense heatwaves across the country, temperature to head north today

Dhaka, May 18: Although there are storms and rains in some parts of the country, the temperature has started rising. Temperatures rose by an average of one to two degrees Celsius on Monday (May 17) in most places compared to Sunday. On Tuesday (May 18) the temperature may rise further somewhere. The heat flow may continue. But there will be storms and rains somewhere.

Meteorologist Omar Farooq said the temperature would remain the same on Tuesday. Rather, the temperature may rise further in some areas. However, there will be intermittent storms and rains in different parts of the country. The heat flow in Dhaka will remain the same during the day. There may be thunderstorms after dusk.

According to the Meteorological Department, mild to moderate heat waves are expected over Sitakunda, Chandpur, Comilla, Rangamati, Maijdi Court, Feni, Rajshahi, Pabna and Tarash, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions and may continue. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly more.

According to the weather forecast, the increase in light pressure is located in and around West Bengal. Part of it is located in the North Bay. As a result, some places in Mymensingh, Sylhet and Dhaka divisions and a couple of places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Khulna and Barisal divisions may receive showers with gusts or thundershowers.

Meanwhile, the highest temperature recorded in the country in the last 24 hours was 39.4 in Jessore, which was 38 degrees Celsius yesterday. This is the highest temperature in the last one week. Among the divisional cities, the temperature in Dhaka yesterday was 36.7 degrees Celsius. Besides, Mymensingh had 34.2 degrees Celsius, Chittagong 34.2 degrees Celsius, Sylhet 31.2 degrees Celsius, Rajshahi 37.8 degrees Celsius and Barisal 37 degrees Celsius.

However, the temperature in Rangpur and Khulna has decreased a bit. In Rangpur, it was 31 degrees Celsius, down two degrees. The temperature in Khulna also dropped by 1 degree and was 37 degrees Celsius.
