Own Correspondent, Dhaka, August 31: Hasanul Haq Inu, the leader of the ruling 14-party alliance, apologized to the countrymen on behalf of himself and the government for the rise in commodity prices.

Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) president said in his speech in the parliament, "We know that people are suffering. This suffering has suddenly started due to the global crisis caused by the Russia-Ukraine war. I am apologizing to the public on behalf of myself and the government for the rise in prices. My condolences to you."

On Tuesday (August 30), Inu apologized during the discussion of the general motion brought under Rule 147 of the Rules of Procedure in the National Assembly. Jatiya Party Member of Parliament and General Secretary of the party Mujibul Haque Chunnu raised this proposal to inform the nation about the steps taken by the government in recent problems including the global pandemic Covid-19, the Russia-Ukraine war, and rising commodity prices.

Criticizing the exaggeration of government ministers, Hasanul Haq Inu said that the Prime Minister is expressing condolences. She has called for patience. There, some members of the cabinet are joking instead of sympathizing with the suffering. It is shocking and unfortunate. I condemn it. Those who are unable to fulfill their responsibilities leave their responsibilities. Save the people, save the prime minister too.

The JSD president said, the dealers, manufacturers, and retailers - each one is blaming the other. In the case of eggs, I saw that the price came down due to the intervention of consumer rights. So why the rice market will not go down? This means that the matter is in our hands.

Inu said to implement a special package proposal for six months by making some changes from within the budget.

He introduced cash and commodity assistance for poor and low-income people, introduced a rationing system for workers, formalized and institutionalized open market sales, subsidized poor customers instead of quick rental owners, discouraged import of luxury goods, increased incentives on remittances to 3 percent, social security. He proposed formulation of a food-based list, strengthening of consumer rights authority, increase in revenue collection, dollar management, withdrawal of excess fuel price hike, and reduction of import duty on daily and food items.

Hasanul Haq Inu said, BNP neither sees nor hears. When they were in power, they had cotton ears and eyes. They did not understand the suffering of the people. The current prime minister sees with his eyes and hears with his ears. He has dealt with past crises. Our government and the Prime Minister have the power to deal with the temporary crisis.
