Dhaka, March 25: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed regret and said that the world is witnessing the killings in Gaza, but no one is taking any effective measures to stop it.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said this when she met with the Secretary General of Palestine's Fateh movement (ruling party) Lt. Gen. Jebreel Al-Razoub at Ganobhaban on Sunday.

After the meeting, Prime Minister's speech writer Md. Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists.

Nazrul Islam said that the prime minister criticized the human rights organizations for their silence on the Israeli attack on Gaza and said, "It is a kind of hypocrisy".

Sheikh Hasina also emphasized the need for unity of the Muslim Ummah.

She said, "Muslims should be united for the security of the Muslim Ummah and to alleviate the plight of the Palestinians."

In this regard, the Prime Minister asked to follow the resolution adopted in 1967, which stated that East Jerusalem would be the capital of Palestine.

She reiterated her unequivocal support for the Palestinians and condemned Israeli forces' attacks on hospitals in Gaza, killing thousands of people, including women and children.

Sheikh Hasina mourned the deaths in Gaza and demanded an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

She said that Bangladesh has already sent two rounds of relief aid to the Palestinian people through Egypt.

She also said, "I have always raised my voice in international forums for the Palestinian people wherever I have the opportunity."

The Prime Minister also recalled Yasir Arafat's visit to Bangladesh in 1997 during the Awami League regime.

The Secretary General of Palestine's Fatah Movement thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her unconditional support and for raising her voice on behalf of the Palestinians in various international forums.

Lt. Gen. Jebrel Al-Razoub said, "The war needs to be stopped immediately and the international community should take swift action for this purpose."

"There is an acute food crisis and people are starving," he said, adding that "Noting that food aid is urgently needed."
