Japan will build world-class children's library in Bangladesh

Dhaka, April 28: Tadao Ando Architects and Associates, founded by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando, will build a children's library in Dhaka. A delegation led by Tadao said this during a courtesy meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Tokyo's Akasaka Palace on Thursday. After the meeting, Prime Minister's speechwriter M Nazrul Islam briefed the journalists.

Before the meeting, BNM Director General Md. Kamruzzaman and Tadao Ando signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh National Museum (BNM) and Tadao Ando Architect Associates in the presence of the Prime Minister. An MoU was signed for the construction of a children's library in Bangladesh with Japanese donations.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister said that the present government has taken various steps including construction of museums across the country to preserve the true history of the liberation war of Bangladesh and the glory of the heroes.

She said, to preserve the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in making the country independent, the government has converted his residence into a museum.

Tadao Ando praised the socio-economic progress of Bangladesh under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masood Bin Momen and Secretary of Prime Minister's Office Mohammad Salahuddin etc. were present at this time.
