Own Correspondent, Dhaka, Oct 31: Jatiya Party (JP) said it will not go to the Parliament until a gazette is published declaring the party's chairman and Deputy Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Muhammed (GM) Quader as the Leader of the Opposition.

This decision was taken unanimously in the meeting of Jatiya Party's parliamentary party held under the chairmanship of GM Quader at the office of JP chairman in Banani on Sunday (October 30) afternoon.

Khandkar Delwar Jalali, the press secretary of JP chairman, told the media about this.

Meanwhile, the council to be held on November 26 called by the opposition leader of the Jatiya Sangsad and the main sponsor of the Jatiya Party (JP) Rowshan Ershad has been postponed.

On Sunday (October 30), a circular signed by Golam Masih, member secretary of the 10th National Conference Preparation Committee of Jatiya, informed, "It is for the information of all that the party's 10th National Conference called by JP's main sponsor and opposition leader of the Jatiya Sangsad Begum Rowshan Ershad, which had been scheduled to be held on Nov 26, has been suspended."

This decision was taken after the emergency meeting of the executive committee of the conference preparation at the council coordination office of the party in Gulshan on Sunday evening. Which has already been informed to all the leaders and activists related to the conference. Before this, Rowshan Ershad had suddenly called the council on August 20.

Six co-chairmen of the party were made joint conveners to coordinate preparations for the conference called by Rowshan Ershad. They are; Party General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu, Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud, Ruhul Amin Howladar, Kazi Feroz Rashid, Abu Hussain Babla, and Salma Islam.

The day after the council was convened, a meeting of the Jatiya Party's parliamentary party decided to remove Rowshan Ershad from the post of opposition leader and replace her with JP chairman and opposition deputy leader GM Quader. Masiur Rahman also participated in that meeting and signed the minutes of the meeting. Later, under his leadership, the decision of the parliamentary party was reached to the Speaker. But the party decision has not yet been implemented in the parliament.

On September 14, Mosiur Rahman Ranga was dismissed from all positions including the presidium member of the party for publicly commenting on this issue. Party chairman GM Quader dismissed him on constitutional grounds. That order has already been implemented.
