Joyous processions held to welcome national budget

Own Correspondent, Dhaka, June 10: Welcoming the national budget presented in the parliament, the Awami League and its affiliated organizations held joyous processions.

Calling the budget 'people-oriented, development-oriented and people-friendly', the leaders held joyous processions in various police stations and wards of the capital, including the central office of the Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue, and distributed sweets among people on Thursday afternoon.

Referring to the country's 51st budget as a "self-sufficient budget to save lives and livelihoods", the party leaders said the government has given a realistic and timely budget giving priority to life and livelihood in times of crisis.

Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League held a joyous procession in front of 23 Bangabandhu Avenue at 5 pm welcoming the proposed budget for 2022-23 fiscal year. Hedayetul Islam Swapan, vice-president, Humayun Kabir, general secretary, Mohiuddin Mohi and Miraj Hossain, joint general secretaries, Golam Sarwar Kabir, organizing secretary, and other leaders joined the procession led by Abu Ahmed Monnafi, president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League.

Earlier, the Awami Juba League welcomed the budget at 4 pm and held a joyous procession and rally in Bangabandhu Avenue area. General Secretary of Juba League Md. Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil led the procession and assembly. In the procession and gathering, the leaders and workers of Juba League congratulated and thanked the successful statesman Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Meanwhile, Dhaka University (DU) Chhatra League has welcomed the proposed budget for the fiscal year 2022-23. The procession left the Madhur canteen on Thursday afternoon and gathered at the foot of the Raju sculpture after circling the various roads of the university.

At the rally, DU BCL President Sanjit Chandra Das said that with the budget announced today, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made it clear that all developed countries, including Europe, America and China, have to cope with the post-Covid economic recession around the world. In that budget, the highest importance has been given to the education and health sectors.
