Dhaka, September 1: A youth worker named Shaon (20) was killed in a police clash with BNP activists in Narayanganj. The incident took place in the Railgate area of the city on Thursday morning. The deceased Shaon was involved in youth party politics. His father's name is Shahed Ali. He is a member of the Fatulla police station youth group.

Besides, five more leaders and activists of the Youth Dal were shot dead. They have been brought to the emergency department of the Dhaka Medical College (DHMC) Hospital for treatment. They are - Md Badal Bhuiyan (35), Nabir Hossain Navin (30), Md Russell Pradhan (30), Jewel Arman (40) and Md Farooq (30).

Police Superintendent of Narayanganj Golam Mostafa Russell said, they created chaos on the road with a procession without taking any prior permission. When they tried to persuade them to leave, they pelted the police like a rain of bricks and pelted cocktails. Police also fired tearshells and rubber bullets in self-defence. About 10-12 of our members were injured and are undergoing treatment in different hospitals. District BNP member secretary Mamun Mahmud said Shaon was killed by police firing.

It is known that the police stopped the procession on the occasion of the 44th founding anniversary of BNP on Thursday morning. Later, when the procession went out ignoring the police, the clash started from 10:30 am in the No. 2 railway gate area of ​​the city. Clashes are ongoing till the last news. Narayanganj Sadar (Victoria) Hospital has confirmed that the dead body has been kept by Nazmul Hossain, the doctor in charge of the hospital.

District BNP member secretary Mamun Mahmud said that the deceased Shaon Fatulla was a member of Thana Jubo Dal. He was seriously injured in police firing and died on the way to the hospital.

DMK Hospital police camp in-charge (inspector) Bachchu Mia said that five youth members from Narayanganj came to Dhaka Medical after being shot. They are undergoing treatment in the emergency department.
