Dhaka, April 8: Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) has arrested the main coordinator and his accomplice of the robbery of two militants from the court premises in Dhaka.

Among those arrested is Shikha, the mastermind of the extremist snatching. She is the wife of jail absconding militant Abu Siddique Sohail alias Shakib. However, the police have not yet revealed the identity of his shelter.

They were arrested from Narayanganj on Friday night. CTTC Chief Additional Police Commissioner Md. Asaduzzaman informed this information.

He said that the fugitive militant Abu Siddique Sohail alias Shakib's wife Shikha and her accomplice have been arrested in a raid in Narayanganj. An operation is being conducted to nab the fugitive militants with them.

On November 20 of last year, the militants snatched away the two convicts who were sentenced to death in the case of publisher Deepan's murder by spraying in the eyes of the cops at a lower court in Dhaka. The two absconding accused are Mainul Hasan Shamim and Abu Siddique Sohail. Shamim's house is in Madhavpur village of Chatak in Sunamganj. Sohail's house is in Vetoshwar village of Aditamari in Lalmonirhat. The police raided the entire country including the capital to catch them.

The plan to snatch two death row militants from Dhaka's Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court premises was made three months ago. The plan was to abduct the militants the way they had abducted them from the prison van at Trishal in Mymensingh in 2014. But this time attacking the prison van was more risky for the militants. Because the security was high when the militants were brought from Kashimpur jail to Dhaka court. So they consider the courthouse as a safe place. And these plans are made by the militants from inside the prison.

After that, the militants informed the associates who were outside. According to the plan, the associates appeared in the court area on Sunday (November 20) with all kinds of preparations. A leader of Ansar al-Islam named Ayman alias Mashiur Rahman (37) directly led it. The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTTC) said these things during the interrogation of Arafat and Sabur, who are in remand.

CTTC Chief Additional Commissioner. Asaduzzaman said that the leader who led the snatching of the extremists has been identified. An operation is underway to arrest him.
