Khulna division reports 27 deaths, 998 new Covid-19 cases

Dhaka, June 22: Coronavirus deaths and infections have increased again in Khulna division. In the last 24 hours, 27 more people have succumbed to the virus, while 998 people tested positive.

Rasheda Sultana, director of the departmental health department, confirmed the information at noon on Tuesday (June 22).

According to sources, nine people died in Khulna district, five in Kushtia district, four each in Jessore and Bagerhat district, three in Narail district and two in Meherpur district in the last 24 hours.

The first coronavirus patient in the division was identified on March 19 last year. A total of 46,975 people have been identified in 10 districts of the division till Tuesday morning. The death toll has risen to 864. At the same time 34,948 people have recovered.

In the last 24 hours, Khulna district has recored both the most number of deaths and infections in the division. Nine people died and 268 new coronavirus cases have been registered. The district has recorded 13,264 cases and 220 deaths so far. Ten thousand one hundred and sixty-three people have recovered in the district till date.

Bagerhat's infection tally rose to 2,692 after the district reported another 56 fresh cases. According to official records, 70 people have died so far while 1,840 people have recovered.

In Satkhira, 86 people tested positive in the last 24 hours. A total of 3,002 cases, 62 deaths and 2,062 people have recovered so far.

In the last 24 hours, 253 people have been identified in Jessore. A total of 10,038 people have been identified in the district, while 113 people have died and 6,789 have recovered.
