Dhaka, July 25, 2021: After the ban, the fishermen of the coast are getting hilsa in flocks in the Meghna river.

After so many days, the fishing family is happy to get the expected fish back to work. On Saturday (July 24) morning, the huts on the coast of Hatia and Companyganj in Noakhali were flooded with hilsa fish. The price was also within reach.

Earlier, the government had banned fishing in the river from May 20 to midnight on July 23 to increase the reproduction of hilsa. Fishermen resumed fishing in the river from midnight on Friday after the ban was lifted. After the ban was lifted, there was a wave of joy in the fishing village of the upazila as fish could be caught in the river, and smiles were heard in the fishing families as well.

Several fishermen said the river was rough and we could not go far in the river as there was a signal from the Meteorological Department. However, a lot of silver hilsa has been caught in our nets till this morning.

Once the size of the fish is relatively small. Even then we are happy to catch hilsa in flocks.

Companiganj fisherman Mantosh Das said a lot of hilsa had arrived at Musapur Closer Ghat and Charlanta Ghat in Char Elahi. Hilsa fish has been sold by miking in all markets including Chaprashirhat, Peshkarhat, Bamni Bazar, Banglabazar, Basurhat.
Meanwhile, hilsa of different sizes has been seen selling at Rs 300, Rs 500 and Rs 600 per kg in the fish market of Basurhat. Miking has been heard in several places around the market due to low buyers due to restrictions. Hatia Upazila Fisheries Officer Anil Chandra Das said, ‘There is no warning signal on the coast of Noakhali. They have been asked to fish in nearby places without going to the deep sea in hostile weather. '
