Launch, bus, train services normal on first day of BNP's 3-day blockade

Dhaka, Oct 31: The launch, bus and train services have been normal since the morning of October 31 (Tuesday), the first day of the 72-hour blockade called by opposition parties including BNP. Besides, people going to office and leaving for different destinations were seen riding public transport including metro rail.

Buses for various destinations were seen standing at the bus stand to pick up passengers. As it was office time, every bus was full of passengers. Apart from this, rented motorcycles and CNG auto rickshaws are also plying. On the other hand, private cars and battery operated auto rickshaws are also plying in Olligi. Markets, market stalls and sidewalk shops are slowly opening since morning.

In Mirpur, policemen were seen patrolling with cars and motorcycles. Policemen were seen stationed at Mirpur No. 10 Gol Chattar.

Meanwhile, launch movement at Sadarghat is normal. Since dawn, the launch has left from Sadarghat towards Chandpur, Bhola and various districts of the southern region. Launches from the southern region also reached the ghat in the morning.

Two launches for Bhola region and two towards Chandpur left from Sadarghat since dawn. Along with launch movement, boat movement in Buriganga river is also normal.

Despite the strike, train movement is normal in the capital's Kamalapur. But the number of passengers is relatively less. All trains have left the station on time since Tuesday morning.

Attack on October 28 mass meeting, arrest of thousands of leaders and activists of various parties, including BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, house-to-house searches, harassment and torture, protesting the one-point demand for the government's resignation, from October 31 morning to November 2, Thursday 6:00 pm. BNP has announced the implementation of the blockade program.

After BNP announced this blockade programme, Jamaat-e-Islami also announced a three-day blockade programme. Other anti-government parties also supported the blockade programme.

Two killed in BNP-Police clash in Kishoreganj:

BNP workers clashed with the police at Kuliarchar in Kishoreganj. Two people were killed in the shooting. At least half a hundred people including 15 policemen were reported injured in the clash.

The incident took place around 9 am on Tuesday in the Chissuti bus stand area under Kuliachar police station limits.

According to the information of a local BNP leader, the deceased are Chhatra Dal leader Refayet Ullah (20), son of Kawsar Mia of Chaissuti Union, and Krishak Dal president Billal Mia (30), son of Kajal Mia of Madhabadi area of the same union.

23 injured in Awami League-BNP-Police clash in Narayanganj:

At least 23 people, including three policemen, were injured in a three-way clash between the Awami League-BNP and the police at Arai Hazar in Narayanganj around 8:30 am.

Police arrested three people in this incident.
