Dhaka, June 27: Rowshad Ershad, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament and the main patron of the Jatiya Party, has returned home after eight months of treatment in Bangkok. She arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport around 12:30 pm on Monday (June 27). Earlier in the day, the opposition leader left Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight.

Jatiya Party joint secretary general Saad Ershad, son of Rowshan Ershad, confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post. “We’re still at the airport,” he said. "The plane carrying us landed a while ago."

Meanwhile, national leaders, including party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader, co-chairman Ruhul Amin Hawlader and vice-chairman Syed Abul Hossain Babla, went to the airport to welcome Rowshan Ershad.

It is learned that Rowshan Ershad will be staying at Hotel Westin in Gulshan at present. She will go to Bangkok again on July 4 for a routine checkup after the ongoing budget session of the National Assembly. Opposition Leader's Assistant Private Secretary Mamun Hasan said this.

Asked why Rowshan Ershad was staying at the hotel, Jatiya Party Vice Chairman Syed Abu Hossain Babla said she has not yet fully recovered. She has come to the country to attend the budget session of the parliament. "When you go home, many people, including party leaders and workers, can crowd. She will stay at the hotel to avoid this crowd. She is also staying at the hotel to match the environment in which she has been in the hospital for so long."

He also said that she will go to Bangkok again on July 4 for treatment.

On November 5 last year, Rowshan Ershad was taken to Thailand by air ambulance for advanced treatment. She is accompanied by her son Rahgir Al Mahi Saad Ershad and daughter-in-law Mahima Ershad. Earlier, Rowshan Ershad was undergoing treatment at a hospital in the country for about a month.

Rowshan Ershad, wife of late Hussain Muhammad Ershad, founder of Jatiya Party and former president, is a Member of Parliament for Mymensingh-4 constituency. She has been the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament for the last two terms.
